Calcium Scoring CT

A calcium scoring CT is a non-invasive imaging procedure that detects calcium build-up, or calcified plaque, in the coronary arteries. It is used to evaluate a patient’s risk of future coronary artery disease.

01Why It’s Done

Dr Lee may recommend this for patients with:

  • Estimating future heart-disease risk
  • Guiding decisions about preventive treatment
  • As part of a preventive heart screen for those with risk factors

02How It Works

  1. Electrodes are placed on the chest to monitor the heart rate.
  2. A CT scanner captures cross-sectional images of the heart.
  3. No dye is injected, the scan is quick and straightforward.

03Duration, Recovery & What To Expect

This is a fast, non-invasive scan with no recovery time needed.
