Diagnostic Test & Treatment
Ambulatory ECG (Holter Monitor)
An ambulatory ECG is useful for detecting transient heart abnormalities that may not be picked up during a brief, standard ECG. It is often used for patients who experience palpitations, giddiness or fainting spells.
01Why It’s Done
Dr Lee may recommend this for patients with:
- Investigating palpitations or skipped beats
- Assessing dizziness or fainting
- Monitoring known heart rhythm disorders
02How It Works
- Electrode patches and a small portable recorder are secured to your body.
- Your ECG is recorded continuously for 24 to 48 hours.
- You go about your normal daily activities during this time.
- The recording is then analysed by the cardiologist.
03Duration, Recovery & What To Expect
The monitor is lightweight and worn under clothing. There is no downtime, you simply return the device after the recording period.
